Final Research Paper Outline. The purpose of the Final Research Paper due in Week Five is to cover a contemporary journalism or media ethics issue. For this week’s assignment, you will create an outline for your Final Research Paper. Complete the following steps for this outline assignment: 
Step One: Review the potential Final Research Paper topics below and select one topic for your Final Research Paper. 
  1. Counting the Costs: Ethical Issues Associated with Protecting Sources 
  2. Follow Me: Holding Bloggers Ethically Responsible 
  3. “Give Us Privacy”: Ethical Treatment of Families of Criminals in News Reports 
  4. In the Eye of the Beholder: The Ethical Pitfalls of Images and Video in News Reports 
  5. Word that Hurt: An Ethical Basis of Libel 
Step Two: Construct an outline that includes the following elements: 
  1. Identify a specific thesis or central argument for the Final Research Paper. 
  2. Address each of the following five main points that will be included in the Final Research Paper: 
    •   Explain the ethical significance of the topic. 
    •   Discuss each of the concepts and/or areas of ethics that are relevant to the topic.
  •   Identify and discuss at least two real-world situations in relation to the topic. 
  •   Discuss the implications of the issue on the field of journalism. 
  •   Write an overall opinion of the issues discussed in relation to the impact on individuals, groups, 
    and society. 
  1. Construct the outline according to the outline template in the Ashford Writing Center. 
  2. Identify at least one reference for each of the five main points, and provide the APA citation for each 
    source. 
You must use the outline template in the Ashford Writing Center for the completion of the outline. You must also provide at least five scholarly resources other than the required text in the outline. No more than two of your academic resources may be from the Internet. At least two of the five academic resources must be found in the Ashford University Library. Cite your resources as indicated in the sample outline and on reference page following the outline.
